Chiropractic found me at the age of 28! At the suggestion of a high school classmate I saw an Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) Chiropractor who incorporated Applied Kinesiology and Sacro Occipital Technique along with homeopathy and nutrition/herbs. With years of pain from spring board diving, soccer, softball and skiing and stress from launching and coaching dot.com companies, I just thought that I would live forever with headaches and pain.
Thankfully NET with chiropractic changed my life as it has for 1000s around the world.
Several months after I started my chiropractic journey, I was introduced to the developers of NET, Drs. Scott and Deb Walker, who eventually asked me to join the ONE Research Foundation as the treasurer with my business and non-for-profit background. I continue to help support the organization still.
Prior to becoming a chiropractor, I was in Silicon Valley as a tech entrepreneur where I launched and helped to raise funds for tech and non-profit companies.
During my tech career, one of my favorite projects was as the executive as well as program director for a nonprofit where our mission was to encourage girls to pursue careers in math and science. Our end game was more females in computer science (which I honestly know is needed but I don't personally like to code!).
We developed a pilot computer camp for high school girls pursuing careers in math and science, particularly computers, at Stanford University in conjunction with their computer science department called the Backyard Project. While at the Backyard Project, I was interviewed and appear in the book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, PhD.
I received my doctorate in chiropractic, magna cum laude, from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA, Cum Laude. I opened my own clinic focused on helping women, especially pre, during and post pregnancy and pediatrics and served on the board for Bay Area Birth Information group, an all volunteer nonprofit of birthing professionals in the South Bay Area, CA. We educated women about all their options with birthing in the hospital or at home and postpartum care. Additionally, I taught anatomy and physiology at Patten University for students pursuing careers in healthcare where I had also completed my coursework.
In 2015, after visiting my oldest brother, and his soon-to-be wife, here in Charleston, my husband and I made the decision to switch coasts in order to raise our three kids with less chaos. Our family loves the outdoor life here in the Lowcountry.
When I am not helping patients create thriving, healthy lives, our family loves to swim, hike, fish and boat. I am an avid volunteer at Seacoast Church, MPRD where I have coached kids soccer, softball and basketball. Our kids attend CCSD schools and are involved in clubs, sports travel teams and music. My escape is the beach with my husband. We are attempting to learn salsa dancing.
I am bilingual in Spanish and studied in Madrid, Spain.
Benji Sasson, my husband, is a realtor for eXp Realty, a serial entrepreneur and has launched many titles in the
video gaming space. He was born in South Africa and grew up in Australia and England which is why he has that funny accent!
